I’m Stephanie. I’m an American girl who’s been living in Germany for eight years now. I came here to work in European and transatlantic politics, decided to stay for grad school, and soon found myself a stay-at-home mom of two little girls, working from home as a translator and without any intention of returning to my original career path. I have a wonderful husband, Toffi, two wonderful children, Marie and Greta, and a wonderful elderly dog, Oko. Oko and I both think too much, and I think if he could talk, we’d have a lot to share. I sew, bake, cook, knit, garden (as much as I’m able living in a big city apartment), play with my kids, translate, read, lie awake at nights, dream of moving to the boonies, and wonder what the hell I want to be when I grow up.
Oh, and back in high school, people used to call me “Applesauce.” It began as a joke, but I ended up embracing it as a term of endearment, and it just seems to have stuck.
